31 December 2007 - 18:33Will a pellet stove increase your homeowners insurance?

Amsiar asked:

If so, by how much? And do you feel they are worth it as a main heat source in an average sized ranch home? (With heating oil as a backup?)

28 December 2007 - 19:57Pellet Stove Problems??

sparkle_babi86 asked:

Our pellet stove is not releasing smoke up through the chimney. Instead its smoking up our house. We cleaned out the chimney pipe and that wasnt the problem.

Any ideas on what could be wrong? Basically the smoke is coming inside the house instead of being released outside

Frances

27 December 2007 - 2:51I am about to purchase a Pioneer Plasma TV. Can I mount it on my wall over a Pellet Stove?

krisoconnor7 asked:

I am purchasing a 50″ and the best place would be over my free-standing pellet stove. Now the stove gets hot, but the wall above doesn’t. I would think it would be ok, but again, it is gases being heated!! If you have a suggestion, I am listening! Thanks

26 December 2007 - 5:20My pellet stove is not working and its COLD, please help?

Aj asked:

My pellet stove shut off during the night with a plenty of pellets still left in the hopper. When I shut it off and back on to reset it I can hear the auger crunching on something in the stove. The sound is not coming from up above in the hopper but closer to where the auger pushes the pellets into the burn pan. It snowed here yesterday and my three kids and I are freezing. Its a Sunday morning and there is no way to call a repair man. I am fairly mechanical and I have been trying to break whatever is stuck in there up but am having no luck. Can anyone help me? My kids are awake now and one of them had a bad cough. If I can’t get this going we will have to spend the day at someone elses house. I already emptied the hopper and worked on it from that end too. This is our ONLY source of heat! If you know anything about pellet stoves, please help me.
Chickster, thank goodness it warmed up a bit. I have been doing laundry and baking to help warm up the house and I finally got fed up and started feeding the fire myself every 5 minutes or so I put pellets in the burn pan. Now that the house is tolerable I am again working to dislodge whatever is stuck in there. When I took all the pellets out, I noticed it was full of sunflower seeds, could one of them cause the whole auger to get stuck like that?

24 December 2007 - 7:53Wood pellet stove burns way to many pellets?

mlt2_98 asked:

Hello, I just got a brand new England’s stove works wood pellet stove. It’s a 8,151 to 22,416 BTU. I got it installed and wow does it put out the heat! After talking with a friend of mine I now think there is some thing wrong with the stove. I have it set on “1 out of 9″ so this should be low on the feed. A bag of good pellets only lasted 14 hours!!! I can run the blower on max and the stove will still put out lots of heat. I would like to know if anyone else has had this happen with this stove. I guess what I need to know could the control bord be bad and not let it go to a low feed? Seems low is high I have not tryed it on high yet seems like it would not be good.
thanks,
MLT2_98

18 December 2007 - 20:49Anyone have a pellet stove insert? Do you notice a substatntial savings over oil heat?

Kim asked:

Hi, I live a in a ranch in the Northeast and recently purchased a Napoleon pellet stove insert that I plan to install in my living room fireplace. My hope is to save a great deal of $ over oil next winter. Can anyone let me know their experience using one? Unfortunately, my house does not have a really open floor plan being a 1956 ranch. Will this save me a great deal of $? Will I be able to use it as my main source of heat with my oil furnace as back-up? How many pellets will I probably need? Thanks for any advice. Oh how much will it cost to install about too? It is a fireplace insert.
